Where do I apply for short term employment?

The Jobs Registry is the employment referral service of the Employment Development Agency of the Government of Prince Edward Island. The Jobs Registry service refers unemployed Islanders to positions funded through the Agency's employment creation programs.

Who can register?
Unemployed persons who are at least 16 years of age, residents of Prince Edward Island, eligible to work in Canada and :

  1. Seeking work in positions funded by the Special Projects Program.or,
  2. Students seeking jobs funded through the Jobs for Youth Program and Post-Secondary Student Program.
What do these jobs pay?
Wage rate and position duration depend on the program and the level of funding provided.

Where are the jobs located?
Work locations are determined by projects sponsored by the businesses, non-profit groups, Provincial and municipal governments throughout Prince Edward Island.

What Kind of Jobs Are Funded?
Jobs can be a variety of work that provides meaningful work experience, training opportunities, contributes to community development or assists students in the school-to-work transition.

Persons seeking to be referred to positions created by these programs must complete the Jobs Registry Employment Application. The Application can also be obtained by contacting the Employment Development Agency or any Access PEI location.
