Emergency air evacuation is used when critical or speciality care is required out-of-province immediately. The decision to use emergency air transport is made by your physician in consultation with medical control physicians at speciality hospitals in Moncton or Halifax. The major portion of the cost to use the service is paid by the Department of Health. The patient is required to pay a portion of this cost, a fee of $750.
