All accommodation properties listed here are inspected and licensed by Tourism Nova Scotia. The star ratings that appear on many property descriptions are rated by the Canada Select Accommodations Rating Program. Canada Select is a fee-for-service rating program and may use different criteria for defining the type of property.

Bed & Breakfast (B&B)usually up to 4 guestrooms available in a private home, ensuite, private or shared bathrooms, common living room, full or continental breakfast included in room rate.

Cabinfree-standing unit with bedsitting room (linens supplied) and bathroom; may have kitchen facilities.

Cottagefree-standing unit with one or more bedrooms (linens supplied), a bathroom, separate kitchen and/or living room.

Country Inna property with heritage or historic characteristics with ensuite or private bathrooms, guest living room, dining room serving breakfast and full evening meals.

Hotela property providing internally accessible, guestrooms, ensuite bathrooms, food service facilities, meeeting and conference rooms.

Housekeeping Unitunit is equipped with cooking and eating utensils, stove and/or microwave, refrigerator, sink.

Motela property with guestrooms under one roof, ensuite bathrooms, external and internal access to each guestroom.

Resorta property (may include cottages), with ensuite bathrooms, food service and extensive on-site recreational facilities; may offer conference facilities.

Tourist/Guest Homeusually up to 4 bedrooms available in a home, ensuite private or shared bathrooms, common living room; breakfast may be available (not included in room rate).

CampgroundsNova Scotia is a camper's haven, offering everything from full service to wilderness campsites accessible only by canoe. Campsites are available in both national parks, provincial parks, municipal parks and privately operated campgrounds. All privately owned campgrounds in Nova Scotia have been inspected by the Department of Tourism, Culture and Heritage and have approved water and toilet facilities. We ask you not to camp or park your camping vehicle overnight in any area that is not designated as a campground (e.g. parking lots, shopping malls and beach areas).
