Summary

The Competition Bureau is an independent law enforcement agency that ensures all Canadians enjoy the benefits of a competitive economy. It promotes fair competition in the marketplace by discouraging deceptive business practices and by encouraging the provision of accurate and sufficient information to enable informed consumer choice, in accordance with the Consumer Packaging and Labelling Act, the Textile Labelling Act, the Precious Metals Marking Act and the misleading representations and deceptive marketing practices provisions of the Competition Act.

As a Source of Information + Work Tool all in one, the checklist format of the Labelling Assessment Tools makes them useful documents to integrate into quality assurance systems. They provide user-friendly checklists on the Canadian federal labelling requirements for:

  • prepackaged non-food consumer goods;
  • consumer textile articles;
  • down and feather products;
  • precious metal articles such as gold and silver jewellery.
