Yukon Names 2005 Canada Summer Games Mission Staff

WHITEHORSE - Community Services Minister Glenn Hart announced the names of the mission staff who will support Team Yukon at the 2005 Canada Summer Games in Regina.

The team will be led by chef de mission Vern Haggard and assistant chef de mission Trevor Twardochleb, assisted by Judy Pelchat, Peter Cassidy, Charly Kelly, Jane Koepke, Robin Armour, Richard Trimble, Dean Mastrangelo and Denny Kobayashi.

"Our 2005 mission staff bring considerable experience within the sport and artistic community. Many are also key members of the 2007 Canada Winter Games host society, and will benefit from the experience as we prepare to host the nation in two years," Hart said.

The 2005 Canada Summer Games take place August 6 – 20 in Regina, Saskatchewan. Yukon will send a team of 150 participants. In the first week of the games Yukon will compete in cycling, female soccer and swimming. The second week Yukon will compete in athletics, male soccer and male and female volleyball. Four Yukon artists will also be participating in the national artist program for the full duration of the games.
