Expanded Motor Vehicle Services Now Available In Carmacks

WHITEHORSE - The Yukon government is expanding motor vehicle services in Carmacks and the surrounding area. Residents are now able to obtain a full range of motor vehicle services through the local territorial representative.

The territorial representative, located in the Yukon Housing Corporation office, is now able to fully complete many motor vehicle transactions, including vehicle registrations, driver licenses (with photo) and driver abstracts at the Carmacks office. The office is open (excluding statutory holidays) for motor vehicle services Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. until noon, and Tuesdays from noon until 5 p.m.

"Now that high-speed Internet access is available to Yukon government offices in Carmacks, we can expand our motor vehicle services for the local residents," Community Services minister Glenn Hart said. "Residents of the Carmacks area will no longer have to wait for a permanent registration or driver's license to be mailed to them or make an extra trip into Whitehorse to obtain a photo license."

The service improvement is in addition to the on-line vehicle re-registration service put into place last summer which serves all Yukoners in every community.

The government is committed to increasing access to government services throughout the territory. We hope to expand the service provided by territorial representatives in Teslin and Ross River as affordable technology allows.
