New Reference Manual Available To Help Yukon Gardeners
WHITEHORSE -- A collection of northern gardening reference material, previously available only to Yukon Master Gardener students, is now available to the public.
Yukon Gardener's Manual is a comprehensive guide to all aspects of gardening in the Yukon and includes chapters on botany, soils, outdoor vegetable gardening, lawn and ground covers, woody perennials, flowering plants, greenhouse growing, pests and diseases.
"Yukon gardeners of all experience levels can benefit from the material in this publication, which has been some years in the making," said Energy, Mines and Resources Minister Archie Lang. "I recognize and congratulate the efforts and assistance given by many master gardener graduates, course instructors and our Agriculture branch. This is truly a grown-in-the-Yukon product."
The new 150 page book was funded in part through the federal/territorial Agricultural Policy Framework agreement and is available to the public.
Copies are available for $20 plus GST at the Energy, Mines and Resources Agriculture Branch, third floor in the Elijah Smith Building located in Whitehorse.
For information please call the Agriculture branch at (867) 667-5838 or toll free from the communities at 1-800-661-0408, extension 5838.
