Resource Royalties Flow To Yukon First Nations
WHITEHORSE - Energy Mines and Resources Minister Archie Lang has announced that Yukon First Nations with final land claim agreements are receiving nearly $1 million in resource royalties.
These funds represent the First Nation share of the $4.1 million in royalties collected by the Yukon government for natural gas and minerals produced during the 2005-06 fiscal year.
"Royalty revenues help stimulate our economy and lead to greater self-sufficiency for the Yukon," Lang said. "They provide direct benefit to Yukoners and First Nations. These benefits will only increase as Yukon's oil and gas and mining sectors grow."
All eleven Yukon First Nations with settled land claims receive a share of Yukon's Crown royalties on an annual basis, in accordance with their Final Agreements.
