Agri-Food Processing

The Agri-Food Processing sector is a significant contributor to the provincial economy with 103 agricultural processors employing over 3,900 people. A further 81 businesses are involved in the production of confectionary, baked goods, soft drinks, beer and wine. Annual farm-gate sales in Nova Scotia were $450 million in 2004. Nova Scotia's Agri-Food processing sector then added over $600 million dollars in value for a combined total of over $1 billion dollars (seafood not included).

Nova Scotia processed products range from blueberry juice, to feta cheese, from apple pies to herbal extracts, from ice cream, to pasta sauce, from potato chips to gourmet chocolates.
