Region 4-H Newsletter Fall/Winter 2007-2008
Welcome to another 4-H year! This newsletter contains the
upcoming 4-H events and applications for 4-H Programs. All
the best in the New Year!
Hants County Council
Meetings: Are held in room 122,West Hants Middle School,
Brooklyn beginning at 7:00p.m.

Hants County Senior Members Club
The new 4-H year is here and the Senior Members Club is
looking for new members. 4-H Members between the ages of
14 and 21 can take part in the planning of exciting senior
member events. The meetings are held at the same time and
place as Hants County Council Meetings indicated above.
Kings County Council
Meetings: Are held in the Cornwallis Room of the Kentville
Agricultural Centre at 7:30 p.m.

Rural Leaders Conference
February 7th to February 9th, 2008
The 2008 Rural Leaders Conference will be held at the Holiday
Inn in Halifax. The conference will include leaders from
all aspects of agriculture to come together for a program
designed to strengthen their leadership skills, discover
innovative ideas and opportunities necessary to sustain
rural communities. An application form will be sent soon!!
Chat-a-Rama 2008
Chat-a-Rama is open to all members age 14-18 from all counties
in Western Nova Scotia. It will be held at Camp Hilles,
Paradise, Annapolis County. This is a fantastic event and
a chance for you to meet members from across this part of
the province, learn new skills, and have fun! Applications
will be mailed to all eligible members!
Volunteer Leader Screening
All new 4-H leaders must complete volunteer screening. The
screening requirements nclude: Application form (including
references), Police Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check,
and ttendance at the New Leader Information Session. If
you have not yet received an application package, please
contact your general leader or the 4-H office
Kings New Leader Information Session
January 7th at 6:30 pm in the Cornwallis Room at the Kentville
Agricultural Centre.
Hants New Leader Information Session
January 14th at 6:00 pm, room 122 at the West Hants Middle
School.
Please call and confirm you will be attending an information
session 679-6027. If you areunable to attend please contact
the 4-H office to set up a meeting or go online at www.gov.ns.ca/agri/4h/screening/index.shtml
to complete the New Leaders Information Session.
2007 Provincial Show- Thank You
Thank you to all of the individuals who helped in hosting
the 30th Provincial Show in Windsor. Much appreciation and
admiration goes out to all of the volunteers for your time,
commitment, dedication and hard work in making Pro Show
an outstanding success.
2008 Provincial Show
September 26th - 28th, 2008
Kings County will be hosting Pro Show 2008 in Windsor. This
commitment requires numerous volunteers with lots of behind
the scenes work that has to be started. Kings County Council
invites any leaders, parents or 4-H friends to come out
and help in the planning. Those interested in being part
of this provincial event please contact the 4-H office.
The next Provincial Show meeting will be January 16, 2008
at the Kentville Agricultural Center.
Kings County 4-H Calendars
Kings County Council is selling calendars to raise funds
for Provincial Show 2008. Members and leaders are encouraged
to sell as many calendars as possible. Calendars are being
sold for $10. Contact your General Leader or the 4-H office
for more information.
