Daily Road Report

This is the road report prepared by the Department of Highways and Public Works, for Wednesday, 06 February 2008, at 10:15 am. This road report is produced from information known and available at the time. Please be aware conditions can change without notice. Yukon highways are now experiencing winter driving conditions, please adjust your driving accordingly and allow more time to reach your destination. All Yukon highways are reported to be in normal driving condition with the exception of;

Highway 1, the Alaska Highway,

 CONSTRUCTION SITES

Km 1700 - 1708

Sheep Mountain

Rough & narrow sections will be encountered.

Km 1768

Duke River

Crews and equipment working. Please reduce speed.

Highway 2, the South Klondike Highway, Sections with reduced visibility in blowing and drifting snow may be encountered from Log Cabin (km 44) over the summit. Motorists are reminded not to stop in signed avalanche areas. Canada Customs is open from 8:00 am to midnight. U.S. Customs is open 24 hours.

Highway 3, the Haines Road, Canada Customs is open from 8:00 am to midnight. U.S. Customs is open 24 hours.

Highway 5, the Dempster Highway, is open. Some slippery and narrow sections may be encountered throughout. The Peel River, and the Arctic Red River ice crossings are open to vehicles weighing up to 64,000 kgs. For more information call 1-800-661-0750.

Highway 6, the Canol Road, the North and South Canol roads are now closed for the season, and no longer maintained. Motorists are advised that the Pelly Barge has now been shut down for the season.

Highway 9, the Top of the World Highway, is open to km 4. The Ice Bridge on the Yukon River is now open to light traffic up to 22,000 kgs.

Highway 10, Nahanni Range Road, rough sections will be encountered throughout.
