Education

Advanced Education

Advanced Education provides education, training, employment and other services to prepare Yukoners for the labour force. We develop and implement programs by working closely with other YTG departments, the federal government, business, labour organizations, Yukon College, First Nations, equity groups and other provincial jurisdictions.

The Yukon Training Strategy and the Yukon's Labour Market Development Agreement are two major strategies that determine the direction for training Yukon's labour force.

The programs and services that we currently offer through our Branch are:

  • Apprenticeship and Tradesperson Qualifications
  • Student Training and Employment
  • Student Financial Assistance
  • Community Training Funds
  • Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW)
  • Yukon Nominee Program:  Critical Impact Worker and Skilled Worker
  • Registration of Trade Schools

Sometimes more specific strategies are developed to ensure that we use appropriate approaches to train specific sectors of our labour force.  Examples of these initiatives are:

Youth Strategy
Aboriginal Apprenticeship
