Change of Corporate Name

How do I get information about changing the name of a corporation?

To change the name of a corporation or to check the availability of a corporate name, please contact the Consumer, Corporate & Insurance Division of the Office of the Attorney General. To view business names on Prince Edward Island ONLY you may search the Corporate Registry Database.

Change of Corporate Name

Any company incorporated under the Companies Act, with the sanction of a special resolution of the company, may apply to the Office of the Attorney General to change its name. Please refer to Section 16 of the Companies Act for further information.

The fee for processing an application for change of corporate name is $265.00 payable to the Provincial Treasurer. Please note that this form must be filed in duplicate.

A company wishing to change its corporate name is required to have the Consumer, Corporate & Insurance Services Division conduct a computerized name search of the proposed new name prior to making application for the name change. The fee is $40.00.
