July 25, 2007 – Minister responsible for Housing Rich Coleman announces
results of the Aboriginal Housing Initiative, a $50 million program that
will create 292 housing units in 10 communities across the province.13

May 8, 2007 – Minister Responsible for
Housing Rich Coleman, right, meets with Philip F. Mangano, Executive
Director of the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness, to
discuss solutions to homelessness. During his visit to British Columbia,
Mr. Mangano is sharing strategies with government, business and
community leaders that have lead to decreases in homelessness in several
United States cities. |
April 3, 2007 – Minister responsible for Housing Rich
Coleman announces the government's $80-million investment to protect
affordable housing in Vancouver, Victoria and Burnaby. The Province
purchased 15 buildings with 709 existing units as well as announcing the
construction of 287 new units as part of Housing Matters BC, an
innovative and comprehensive housing strategy to help British Columbians
access affordable housing. The Province’s budget for shelters and
affordable housing is $328 million – nearly triple what it was in 2001. |
