VRI Data Management provides information
and documentation on VRI data.
News
- Forest Analysis and Inventory Branch has opened access to VRI data to the public by making it freely accessible and available via the internet. Digital Data Exchange Agreements are no longer needed. The data distribution is provided through the Natural Resource Information Center (NRIC) website. Since making this data available about 6 gigabytes of VRI data have been downloaded each month.
- 184 Vegetation Resources Inventory files were successfully integrated to the Corporate Data Warehouse since the implementation of VRIMS (Dec. 2007). These files represent new inventories delivered since 2005. The loading of all backlog VRI data submissions is now complete.
Notice
to all users of VRI data
VRIMs is under production with the new data model incorporated. Linked to this
model will be a new inventory projection system (VDYP 7). New standards and new
tools for adjusting the inventory will also be made.
Changes
to existing adjustment standards will therefore be frozen pending this replacement.
DRAFT standards and documentation will be made available in mid 2007. For more information on the new inventory projection and
adjustment tools and standards, please contact Jon Vivian at (250) 356-7185 or
Jon.Vivian@gov.bc.ca New inventory validation and integration tools,
and new data submission standards are also being developed.
For more information on the new data model and VRIM tools, please contact Marc Rousseau at (250) 371-5236 or Marc.Rousseau@gov.bc.ca, or Tim Salkeld at (250) 387-6736 or Tim.Salkeld@gov.bc.ca.
