For-hire common carriers.

Summary

This program is co-managed by Transport Canada and the provincial or territorial ministries of transportation or highways. Trucking within a province/territory is the jurisdiction of that province/territory. Trucking between provinces is a federal responsibility. However, this responsibility has been delegated to the provinces/territories also. An agreement on vehicle registration allows carriers to register in one province to operate interprovincially. Proof of ownership, insurance, certificate of mechanical fitness, etc., may be required by the province.
