Yukon Minerals Advisory Board Releases Annual Report

WHITEHORSE - The Yukon Minerals Advisory Board (YMAB) has released its annual report.  The report reviews government mineral programs and services and offers recommendations on their delivery in order to create a positive business environment for responsible mineral development.

"I want to thank the board for its hard work and commend the effort that went into this report," Energy, Mines and Resources Minister Archie Lang said. "The Yukon government is reviewing its findings and suggestions, and in many instances we are already working on the Board's recommendations."

"The report is intended to help government prioritize decisions to shape and encourage policies that ensure the environmentally and socially responsible development of the Yukon's superior mineral resources," YMAB Chair Clynt Nauman said. "The 2005 report focuses on ways government can continue to improve its permitting processes, infrastructure and workforce training. It also recognizes areas where government excels, such as the work of its Yukon Geological Survey."

Board members are selected to represent a broad cross-section of industry representation, including prospectors, junior and senior companies, as well as individuals with experience in various aspects of the industry.

"I sincerely thank YMAB for the continued support and advice," Lang said. "Over the years the Board's advice has been invaluable in helping to develop good mining policy and administrative practice."
