Lottery Announced For Release Of 19 Rural Residential Lots On The Takhini Hotsprings Road

WHITEHORSE - The Departments of Community Services and Energy, Mines and Resources have released information packages for the sale by lottery of 19 rural residential lots ranging in size from three to six hectares on the Takhini Hotsprings Road.

"We are reacting to the high demand for land and the positive economic climate," Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources Archie Lang, said. "We are holding this lottery in advance of the subdivision being completed to give people time to plan for the fall building season."

The lottery information package for the 19 lots advises people that the price of the lots will range from $90,000 to $135,000, and that final pricing will be available in the fall when the project is complete. These rural residential lots do not entail comprehensive development infrastructure such as water and sewer.

"People who are successful in the June 21 draw will know which order they are in for the final lot inspection and selection that will take place in September," Lang said.

In March, Lang unveiled significant plans for land development around the Yukon.

These projects included the final phase of the Copper Ridge development in Whitehorse totaling 106 lots; the development of 59 rural residential lots in Grizzly Valley; 110 country residential lots in the new Whitehorse Copper country residential subdivision; plans for additional planned development in Mt. Lorne; and a precedent setting joint development opportunity with the Teslin Tlingit Council.

"Yukoners can look forward to more land lotteries as these other projects get closer to completion," Lang said.
