Consultation To Begin On Proposed Arts And Heritage Village Concept

WHITEHORSE - The Yukon government is moving forward with public consultations on the proposed Arts and Heritage Village concept for the Whitehorse waterfront, announced Tourism and Culture Minister Elaine Taylor.

"The proposed village would be situated along the waterfront at the foot of Main Street between the Visitor Information Centre and the Roundhouse," Taylor said.  "The consultation will include the development of alternate design concepts and strategies for the village project."

The team of Kobayashi & Zedda Architects Ltd. in association with North/West Resources Consulting Group Inc. were awarded the contract for the consultation. The consultation will provide an opportunity for all interested parties to comment on and present alternate visions to the Arts and Heritage village concept proposed by Artspace North and the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce.

Consultations will also include possible uses for government owned heritage buildings along the waterfront.

Members of the public are invited to provide their comments and share their views with the team of Kobayashi/Zedda and Associates. Meetings with the consultant will be held on the following dates (drop in services) in the tent set up across the street from MacBride Museum, on First Avenue and Wood Street in Whitehorse:
