Yukon Bizpal Team Recognized With Award Of Excellence

WHITEHORSE - Minister of Community Services Glenn Hart is proud to congratulate Yukon’s BizPaL staff for receiving the federal government’s Public Service Award of Excellence for their leadership in the development and implementation of BizPaL.

Four Yukon government employees; Debra Amson, Kathy Ledyit, Marlene Crawford, and Dale Kozmen, have won the Public Service Award of Excellence for their work in piloting and implementing the time-saving tool for business.

"This award is for service delivery and innovation," Hart said. "The on-line service delivers consistent, accurate information to the business community in a timely manner."

BizPaL is a web-based service that allows business clients and investors to easily generate a customized list of all government permits and licences needed to start up or grow a business enterprise anywhere in Yukon.

The Public Service Award of Excellence is presented to public service employees who, through their resolve and vision, have helped build our country through: citizen-focused service delivery, innovation, management excellence, employment equity and diversity, official languages, outstanding career and exemplary contribution under extraordinary circumstances.

The BizPaL service, officially launched in Yukon December last year with Industry Canada’s support and leading role, is the result of strong collaboration between the Government of Yukon, City of Whitehorse, Government of British Columbia, City of Kamloops, Government of Ontario and the Halton Region. Local participation also includes the Village of Teslin, the Town of Watson Lake, the Town of Faro, the Village of Carmacks, the Village of Mayo, the City of Dawson and the Town of Haines Junction.

The Yukon government and its partner municipalities lead all other Canadian jurisdictions in the implementation of BizPaL. Yukon provided a best practices model and lead in developing guides and templates to help other jurisdictions successfully implement BizPaL.

The BizPaL service is available by visiting http://www.bizpal.ca/ and http://www.bizpal.gov.yk.ca/ and http://www.city.whitehorse.yk.ca/ websites.
