Filmmakers Fund & Sound Recording Program Support Yukoners

WHITEHORSE – Three Yukon sound recording professionals have received Sound Recording Program awards and four Yukon filmmakers are recipients of Yukon Filmmakers Fund awards.

"This support for Yukon film and sound professionals is important for the growth and development of the Yukon sound recording and film industries," Economic Development Minister Jim Kenyon said. "These projects demonstrate the professional skills of Yukoners in these important cultural industries."

The Sound Recording Program is designed to enhance the growth and development of the Yukon sound recording industry by developing domestic sound recording skills.

Sonja Anderson was awarded $5,000 for her professional sound recording project Diamanten pa Marssnon.

"I am grateful for the support of the Yukon Film & Sound Commission for my project," Whitehorse singer Sonja Anderson said. "This support will help me develop a professional sound recording of my music in Whitehorse."

The Yukon Filmmakers Fund delivers funding to Yukon film and video professionals to assist them in developing viable careers and businesses making films and videos for broadcast or commercial release.

Natalie Edelson was awarded $2,000 for the Mayfly Days Video Project.

"The Mayfly Days Video Project is an original Yukon project incorporating videography and animation," Natalie Edelson said. "This support helps take the project to the next level of development."

The Yukon Filmmakers Fund and the Sound Recording Program are awarded twice a year.  The projects are reviewed by a jury of industry peers, using established criteria focused on projects that demonstrate a likelihood of success.
