On February 9 in Island history...

1833 Peter Fisher of Indian River does something unprecedented in the colony: he asks for a divorce from his wife, who has left him for another. The House of Assembly eventually establishes a court of divorce in 1836. We don't know if it ever granted one to Fisher.
