INSPECTION SERVICES ISSUES SAFETY WARNING

CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI

Electrical Inspectors with the Department of Communities, Cultural Affairs and Labour advise the public that persons considering purchasing stand-by power units, such as electrical generators, should not proceed with a purchase until they have consulted with a Licensed Electrical Contractor.

The contractor will determine their power needs and the size of the generator required to safely provide stand-by power.

It is important that the equipment is installed in accordance with the Electrical Code, and permits for the installation of the equipment must be obtained. The public is reminded that work done on electrical installations by unqualified persons could result in electrical shock which could be fatal, or could create a fire hazard.
