First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Economic Development Commission

The First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Economic Development Commission (FNQLEDC) is an organisation created to provide information and training to local economic development officers. In so doing, it works with all community economic development organisations and economic development officers of First Nations of Quebec and Labrador. The First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Economic Development Commission's mission is to provide liaison, communication and information structures that will support and bring together the main players in economic development in its member communities.

The First Nations of Quebec and Labrador Economic Development Commission's services are primarily intended for the economic development officers and representatives in the communities of the First Nations of Quebec and Labrador. 

Our Mandates

Information

Favor the exchange of information and the sharing of expertise between the CEDAs of the First Nations who are members of the FNQLEDC and/or other organisations involved in the First Nations economic development;

Ensure the gathering and distribution of information required by the CEDAs to deliver “quality services” and relevant to the economic development of all clienteles.

Training

Favor the enhancement of skills for the analysis of requests and current and future needs of the clientele;

Take into account the overall training needs of the CEDAs;

Favor the development of a training follow-up for the CEDAs, through support and direction.

Support to members

Provide technical support to the CEDAs to fulfill the tasks that are linked to their functions and to specific requests.

Ensure the networking of the CEDAs according to projects that are common to several communities.

Representation

Act as representative of the CEDAs and CEDOs;

Work in concerted efforts towards the elaboration of the AFNQL’s political mandates in order to represent the interest of the members.

Favor networking, concertation and creation of partnerships between all the organisations who work in the economic development field with the First Nations communities.

Research and development

Respond to the research mandates confided by the General Assembly, the Board of Directors or the Chiefs’ Assembly;

Identify the needs in development tools and mechanisms, ensure the development, validate the feasibility, favor the application and support its implementation.
