The Smoke-free Places Act is a key component of the Health and Social Services System's strategy for healthy living and an important step in improving the health of Islanders. By reducing exposure to second-hand smoke, this legislation will promote healthy environments and wellness for the people of PEI.

Smoking and exposure to second hand smoke are killers and are preventable.

One of the most effective ways to limit exposure to second-hand smoke is with restrictions on smoking in public places and workplaces.

On June 1st, 2003 the Smoke-Free Places Act went into effect.
