	Discovering the Park

A Stately Realm

At the 900-metre summit of Pic de la Hutte, the effects of rougher climatic conditions on the vegetation are evident: the trees are smaller and there are lichen and Arctic-alpine plants. In the distance, the whole town of Saguenay is visible, as far as the Réserve faunique des Laurentides! You can enjoy this panorama on a road suitable for motor vehicles which will take you to the departure point of a 1.5 km trail leading to Pic de la Hutte, where a park warden naturalist is posted each weekend from the beginning of August until the first snowfalls.

Spells and White Magic

Contemplate the "mummies" and "ghosts" that haunt the snow-covered valleys and windswept mountaintops: two climatic phenomena which fascinate, enchant and charm winter activity enthusiasts. Winter is a powerful magician that transforms the park into a land of enchantment. Outdoor enthusiasts and snow lovers are in for a real treat!

Rivière Valin, Winding and Romantic

Grab your paddle for an excursion on Rivière Valin. Whether you are travelling by canoe or kayak, many interesting encounters could be waiting just around the bend. Beavers are common, and many clues reveal their presence: huts, trails, gnawed trees, etc. The sector is a fragile habitat, concealing a large number of peat bog plants, some of which are rare. You can come ashore on a small beach in the Étang Bélanger, where moose can often be spotted. Here you can take advantage of an unimpeded view of Mont Valin.

Fish Stories

Imagine five rivers with numerous rapids and several falls and cascades, criss-crossing the mountain landscape. It's truly a fisher's paradise! Close to 125 bodies of water of every size may be found on this territory. Take a welcome break next to a lake and enjoy some good fishing! Day fishing, with or without a boat, is also available.

In the Arms of Morpheus

The sun breaks over the horizon, the birds have been singing for a while now, you watch the fog lift from the lake while you eat breakfast. This is vacationing at Parc national des Monts-Valin. Now 7 cabins are available in the Piedmont sector (near the Discovery and Visitor Centre) and the Lac Martin-Valin sector.
