Regulations
It is important to read the new Observation Activities at Sea in the Marine Park: Regulations in Effect before venturing out on the water. Adopted in March 2002, these regulations provide a better framework for observation activities at sea. Businesses offering observation cruises must obtain a permit, and everyone who navigates within the limits of the marine park must abide by certain rules of conduct in the
presence of a marine mammal. Thank you for reading these regulations.
Also take note of the new law on observing marine mammals (pdf : 541 ko) before your next nautical adventure. You can get a copy of the law from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Parc national du Saguenay or the Parc marin du Saguenay-Saint-Laurent.
Please note that the Saguenay-St. Lawrence Marine Park is not subject to the general regulations of the Parcs Québec network due to its federal-provincial status.
As the Saguenay and the St. Lawrence River are very unusual watercourses (tides, changing winds and currents), only those individuals having extensive sea kayaking experience may venture out on to these bodies of water.
