Our actuaries are grouped into two separate directorates. 

The actuaries in the Direction de l'évaluation et de la révision are part of the Service de l'évaluation. Their main role is to evaluate and develop programs related to retirement income security and family policy.  

The actuaries in the Direction des régimes de retraite act as pension plan specialists. Their main role is to promote and monitor the plans.

The Canada Pension Plan.

It is an agreement signed by Québec and a foreign country that allows Québec residents (current or past) who have worked outside Canada to obtain a retirement pension or disability pension, or give entitlement to survivors' benefits payable by the foreign country. The agreement also makes it possible to add together years of participation in Québec and the foreign plan together, which can give entitlement to pensions in cases where a person has not contributed sufficiently to one of the plans.  

Furthermore, under this type of agreement, a worker who is assigned temporarily to a foreign country and his or her employer can continue to pay social security contributions only to the Québec social programs.

In 1998. The reform included a variety of measures such as raising contributions to a ceiling of 9,9% by 2003. That will guarantee the Plan's future until at least 2055, as shown in the most recent actuarial report.

The Régie des rentes du Québec is the responsibility of the Minister of Employment and Social Solidarity, Mr. Sam Hamad, whose ministerial responsibilities include the application of the Act respecting the Québec Pension Plan and the Supplemental Pension Plans Act.
