Agricultural Environment
From a sustainable development perspective, ensuring a balance between
agricultural development, its social acceptability and environmental
protection for the benefit of future generations is an excellent means of
conserving resources, water and soil. Accordingly, the commitments made in
the Québec Water Policy, notably through the Regulation respecting
agricultural operations, aim to strike a better balance between fertilizer
applications and plant requirements in order to reduce pollution from
fertilizer residues in the environment. This approach is centered around more
rigorous on-farm phosphorus management.
This section contains information on, among other things, the activities
requiring a certificate of authorization under the Environment Quality Act
and the public register for livestock operations. Visitors can also access
various documents dealing with the environmental impact of agricultural
activities.
