$4 MILLION TO PROVIDE ECONOMIC AID FOR NORTH THOMPSON

VICTORIA — The province is providing an additional $4 million in economic assistance for individuals and small business affected by wildfires in the North Thompson region, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.

CANADA / B.C. SIGN MOU TO ESTABLISH A NATIONAL PARK
Premier Gordon Campbell joins children from Similkameen Elementary to celebrate the signing of an MOU that will lead to the establishment of a new national park in the South Okanagan and two new national marine conservation areas on B.C.'s coast.

VANCOUVER — The Right Honourable Jean Chrétien, Prime Minister of Canada, and the Honourable Gordon Campbell, Premier of British Columbia, in the presence of the Honourable Herb Dhaliwal, Minister of Natural Resources, the Honourable D. Ross Fitzpatrick, Member of the Senate of Canada, and the Honourable Joyce Murray, B.C. Minister of Water, Land and Air Protection, today signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that paves the way for the creation of a new national park reserve of Canada and two new national marine conservation area reserves of Canada in B.C.
