17 RESEARCH PROJECTS TO PROVIDE LEADING-EDGE INNOVATION

VICTORIA — Seventeen new research projects have received approval-in-principle for $32.25 million under the Leading Edge Endowment Fund, and will support new opportunities in technology, resource management, early childhood development and health care.

PROVINCE PROCLAIMS LEGION WEEK TO HONOUR B.C. VETERANS

VICTORIA — The provincial government today paid tribute to the work of The Royal Canadian Legion in B.C. and the Yukon by proclaiming June 25 to 30 — the six-day period preceding Canada Day — as Legion Week. B.C. is the second province in Canada, after Ontario, to so honour the veterans' organization.

$250,000 HELPS STRENGTHEN PALLIATIVE CARE FOR KIDS
Premier Campbell took time to speak with Canuck Place children after announcing $250,000 in additional funding for the children's hospice in Vancouver.

PROVINCE OFFERS TRANSLINK NEW WAY FOR RAV TO PROCEED

VICTORIA — The Province has made an offer to Translink that would allow the Richmond-Airport-Vancouver (RAV) line to proceed, by transferring the risk and responsibility for the project to the Province and securing the investments committed by all of the current partners.

PROVINCE HONOURS CANADIAN VETERANS
Premier Gordon Campbell joined Lt.-Col. Archie Steacy, president of the B.C. Veterans Commemorative Association, to launch a new series of licence plates honouring veterans in B.C. for their service to Canada.
