PREMIER ANNOUNCES $2.8 MILLION FOR MINING TRAINING
Premier Gordon Campbell was joined by Minister of State for Mining Bill Bennett at Mineral Exploration Roundup 2007, the world's largest technical mineral exploration conference, where he announced $2.8 million in provincial and federal funding to help youth from rural and Aboriginal communities train for mining jobs in B.C.

VANCOUVER — The Province and the federal government will invest a total of $2.8 million to help youth from rural and First Nations communities in northwestern B.C. get the hands-on experience they need to develop exciting careers in the mining industry, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.

PREMIER CELEBRATES SUPPORT FOR ABORIGINAL WOMEN'S MENTORING PROGRAM
Premier Gordon Campbell joined representatives of Bell Canada and the Minerva Foundation at the announcement of Bell's $500,000 contribution to the foundation's Combining Our Strength program, which works to build mentoring relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal women in B.C. The Province has previously contributed over $350,000 in funding to support Minerva Foundation programs.

NEW BOOK AWARD KICKS OFF FAMILY LITERACY WEEK IN B.C.

VICTORIA — The Province will sponsor a new book award for British Columbian and Canadian children's authors and give a free copy of the winning book to every B.C. kindergarten student, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today at the start of Family Literacy Week in B.C.

$120 MILLION FOR B.C. COAST ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND CONSERVATION
Premier Gordon Campbell was on hand for the announcement that the federal government intends to match provincial funding of $30 million for the Conservation Investments and Incentives Initiative fund, meaning a total of $120 million will be available to support economic and environmental sustainability on B.C.'s Central Coast and North Coast.

VANCOUVER — The Honourable John Baird, Minister of the Environment, today signaled that the government will proceed with a $30-million contribution to support the Conservation Investments and Incentives Initiative (CIII) fund. This fund, supported by governments and private foundations, is aimed at preserving the integrity of the Spirit Bear Rainforest for generations to come. This announcement is yet another milestone in the environmental agenda of Canada's New Government.

Premier Campbell delivered the keynote address at the annual general meeting of the Truck Loggers Association on January 19, 2007. He outlined some of the changes in the Coastal Forest industry and encouraged the TLA to look for new markets in Asia.

PREMIER ANNOUNCES $2.9 MILLION FOR NEW TRADES CAMPUS
Premier Gordon Campbell was joined by John Les, MLA for Chilliwack-Sumas, and Barry Penner, MLA for Chilliwack-Kent, to announce $29 million to build a new trades and technology centre for the University of the Fraser Valley's new campus in Chilliwack.

CHILLIWACK — The Province is investing more than $29 million to purchase 34 hectares of land and build a trades and technology centre for the University College of the Fraser Valley's new Chilliwack campus as part of B.C.'s first full-service education park, Premier Gordon Campbell announced today.

VICTORIA — Team Canada's junior men's hockey team have done their country proud by winning gold at the World Junior Hockey Championships in Leksand, Sweden, Premier Gordon Campbell said today. This is the team's third consecutive gold medal win, following victories in Vancouver and Grand Forks, N.D.
