Young Entrepreneurs Program

The Young Entrepreneurs program aims to help young entrepreneurs create a first company by offering them financial support.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant and be a permanent resident of Quebec
  • Be between 18 and 35
  • Have the necessary experience or training for the project
  • Commit to working full time at the company

Eligible Activities

The financial assistance may be applied to one or more of the following components:

  • Component 1 – Formulation of a business plan: carry out a feasibility study or other study preparatory to creating a business, as long as it is for a project considered eligible for this program. 
  • Component 2 – Creation of a first: creation of a first legally constituted company.
  • Component 3 – Training of the entrepreneur: enable candidates obtaining financial assistance for the creation of a first company to acquire the necessary training to carry out their project.

Summary

Financial assistance takes the form of a grant for an amount determined by the local development centre (LDC).

  • Component 1 – Formulation of a business plan: 75% of eligible expenses (professional fees)
  • Component 2 – Creation of a first company: 50% of eligible expenses (capital expenditures such as land, building, equipment, acquisition of technologies, software, and rolling stock)
  • Component 3 – Training of the entrepreneur: assistance may cover all eligible expenses (registration fees, cost of teaching material, and other related expenses).

A company-creation project must meet the following criteria:

  • Be based on a business plan covering the first two years of operation, showing that the company has good prospects for viability and profitability
  • Involve the creation of at least two permanent jobs or the equivalent in person/years within two years of the start of the project.
  • Include fixed capital expenditures
  • Be financed in part by an investment by the entrepreneur.
