To Whom Does This Apply?

Any person who owns, controls or possesses 100 litres or more of Polychlorinated Biphenyl (PCB) liquids, 100 kilograms or more of PCB solids or any combination of liquids, solids or substances that contains 1 kilogram or more of PCBs.

Storing PCBs.

Summary

The Storage of PCB Material Regulations are in effect under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act 1999 (CEPA), which authorizes the Department of Environment to regulate all aspects of the life cycle of any substance included in the List of Toxic Substances in Schedule 1 to the CEPA. Proper storage is part of the life cycle and PCBs are listed in Schedule I.

The Storage of PCB Material Regulations specify the conditions for storing PCB materials including site access, storage requirements, fire protection and emergency procedures, maintenance and inspection, labelling, records and reporting.
