Restoring Forest Resources in Affected Areas
Extensive mountain pine beetle
attack in some management units will result in a “gap” in the supply of mature
timber 20-60 years in the future. Although this can’t be completely avoided,
measures are being taken to reduce the negative impacts. While accelerated salvage harvesting takes place, reforestation and
restoration activities are being carried out with an awareness of climate trends
and long-term risks.
