CHILDREN'S EDUCATION FUND

Children's Education Fund

The Province of British Columbia wants the best for your child’s future. For every child born or adopted in British Columbia after January 1, 2007, we are investing $1,000 into the Children’s Education Fund.

This investment will grow over time and your child will be able to access the money to support their choice in learning after graduation. With interest, the fund is expected to grow to more than $2,200 by the time your child is finished high school.

There is no application required. Your child will be eligible for the benefit when they enter post-secondary education, as long as they are between 17 and 26 years old. Qualifying post-secondary schools will include a wide range of facilities in British Columbia that provide academic, trades, or other vocational training.

The fund will also be available to children born outside B.C. to parents who normally reside here, such as Canadian forces personnel on assignment or expectant mothers who travel for specialized medical care.
