Provincial Heritage Planning

The Province has contracted a local company, The IRIS Group, to lead the team that will undertake a comprehensive Island Heritage Study. The scope of the study includes a broad consideration of cultural and natural heritage, both tangible (such as artifacts, specimens, buildings, heritage sites and archival records); and intangible (such as folklore, oral history and customs). There will also be an emphasis on public consultation, with meetings held across the Island to give citizens, whether as individuals or on behalf of organizations, the opportunity to share their views on the Island’s heritage and its future. In addition, Islanders will have an opportunity to provide input in writing.
