Celebrating Family Day

Hello.

I’m here at White Oaks Elementary School and I just made an announcement of $40 million to help support better libraries in our schools right across the province of Ontario.

One of the things I’ve always enjoyed doing, just as a dad, is helping develop in my kids a spark of their imagination that can only come through reading.

So, we’re delighted to lend support to our schools right across the province.

What I really want to talk to you about today is our new holiday.

Family Day is coming up on February 18.

Somebody once asked me, if I can go back and get anything what might that be.

If I could go back, I’d get more time with my dad.

We all lead these hectic, just-in-time lives.

And it seems that most of the forces in life are designed to pull families apart and take them in different directions every single day of the week.

So Family Day is just one small way to set aside some special time for families to come together, be together and enjoy one another.

So I hope you really enjoy Family Day.
