About Qulliq Energy Corporation

Qulliq Energy Corporation (QEC) is a Crown Corporation wholly-owned by the Government of Nunavut. The corporation was originally established as Nunavut Power Corporation in 2001. As a result of legislation changes in 2002, Nunavut Power Corporation was renamed Qulliq Energy Corporation.

In 2003 Nunavut Power became a subsidiary of QEC and is responsible for the generation and distribution of electricity.

Additionally, in 2006 the company announced the creation of the Nunavut Energy Centre. This division of the corporation has been set up to develop and deliver public outreach and programming related to energy conservation.
