December 31, 2007 BRAMPTON –The McGuinty government is appointing seasoned hospital administrator Ken White as Supervisor for the William Osler Health Centre, Deputy Premier and Health and Long-Term Care Minister George Smitherman announced today. "My first priority for this hospital is to restore public confidence in its leadership," Smitherman said. "We're appointing Ken White because he has the right experience and skills to make that a reality." Ken White, a former CEO with Mississauga Trillium Health Centre, will focus on improving communication between the hospital and the community, reducing emergency department wait times and making sure the hospital has enough nurses and other staff to meet patient needs. Mr. White will report directly to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care. "I'm here to listen to the community and work with them as we take action on a number of important challenges," White said. "I am confident that by working together, William Osler Health Centre will have a bright future." Mr. White will work closely with the Central West Local Health Integration Network. "We welcome this important step," said Joe McReynolds, Chair of the Central West LHIN Board. "It is clearly designed to improve patient care." These initiatives are part of the McGuinty government's plan for innovation in public health care, building a system that delivers on three priorities - keeping Ontarians healthy, reducing wait times and providing better access to doctors and nurses.
