Direct your non-emergency health questions to a health information expert with HealthyOntario.com's Ask an Expert service.

This service is operated by the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and managed by PUSH Interactive. All enquiries are processed by PUSH Interactive, with supervision provided by this website's Chief Medical Editor.

The Ask an Expert service is currently accepting enquiries regarding the following health issues common to Ontarians:

  • Arthritis
  • Asthma
  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Smoking
  • Weight Management

Do not rely on HealthyOntario.com and/or the Ask an Expert service for medical advice. If you are feeling ill right now, immediately phone TeleHealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 (TTY: 1-866-797-0007) or 911 (9-1-1), or visit your doctor or closest hospital. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of information that you have received through the Ask an Expert service.

The following terms and conditions must be agreed to before using the Ask an Expert service. Please read them carefully and, if you agree, click “Accept” to continue.

Terms and Conditions

HealthyOntario.com's Ask an Expert service is provided for residents of Ontario, Canada only. Enquiries from non-Ontario residents will not receive a reply.

All enquiries to the Ask an Expert service will be treated as confidential and users can remain anonymous (see our Privacy Policy for details) if they so desire. The Ask an Expert service utilizes secure encryption technology (SSL) to protect your privacy to the greatest extent possible; however internet communications of any kind require the use of systems that are beyond the control of our service providers, and may be subject to interception or loss. As such, HealthyOntario.com cannot guarantee the security of any data transmission across the internet. The information we receive, and any subsequent correspondence, will be safely stored with our service providers for at least 5 years.

For the purposes of monitoring and improving the Ask an Expert service, reports containing anonymous aggregated information may be produced. These reports will not contain any personally-identifiable information.

ASK AN EXPERT DOES NOT PROVIDE MEDICAL ADVICE

HealthyOntario.com's Ask an Expert service should be used for general informational purposes only. Ask an Expert cannot provide medical diagnosis, symptom assessment, health counselling, or medical opinions for users. Information provided is only that which is already found on HealthyOntario.com or elsewhere on the internet.

Enquiry replies may include links to sites outside of the HealthyOntario.com umbrella. The operators of HealthyOntario.com have no control over the content of these sources and are not responsible for and assume no liability associated with the use of that content. HealthyOntario.com does not endorse any views, products, or services that may be offered through these sites.

If any provision of these terms and conditions is found to be invalid by any court having competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. These terms and conditions will be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein and shall be treated in all respects as an Ontario contract, without reference to the principles of conflicts of law. In the event of a dispute relating to your use of the Ask an Expert service, you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Ontario courts and to waive any objections based upon venue.
