What does the Museum Do?

The OPP Museum preserves and celebrates the heritage of the Ontario Provincial Police.

Exhibits
The Museum’s exhibits are wide-ranging in topic, educational and interactive.   Founded in 1909, the OPP has a rich and varied history.  This history is showcased at the Museum by dynamic displays of specialized law enforcement equipment, uniforms past and present, insignia, investigative techniques, forensic analysis, vintage vehicles, police photographs, historical overviews, selected significant events and cases, and much more.

The OPP Museum is designed for self-guided use.

Current Exhibit

The current featured exhibit, From Generation to Generation: What Museums Do, celebrates and explores the role of The OPP Museum, and museums in general.  Learn how museums decide which artifacts to collect.  Find out about the behind-the-scenes work of cataloguing, researching and conserving artifacts, images and documents.  Just how are museum exhibits created?  We invite you to visit us, find out how museums “work their magic”, enjoy your experience, and share the news with others.

Fascinating and fun!

At the interactive children’s area, kids can create original police-themed artwork and either take it home as a souvenir or submit it for the Curator’s consideration for the seasonal “Visiting Artists” display in the Museum.

Check out the educational CD-ROMs or try on a uniform in the “dress-up” area.
