Corporate Communications Bureau

The Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P.) Corporate Communications Bureau provides the organization with communications leadership and high quality communications advice, products and services encompassing all aspects of corporate internal and external communications.

The Bureau amalgamates a number of existing core functions, including the Media Relations Section; Issues Coordination and Correspondence Units from the Commissioner's Office; the O.P.P. Museum; audio-visual services; and responsibility for coordinating the O.P.P. Intranet and Internet Web sites.

The Corporate Communications Bureau also provides the focus for a number of new responsibilities within the area of corporate communications. These include strategic communications planning, corporate event management and centralized coordination of O.P.P. public relations activities, such as the Commissioner's Own Pipes and Drums, O.P.P. Youth Summer Camp, O.P.P. Chorus and O.P.P. Golden Helmets.

Mandate

To be the lead role in providing a quality and responsive corporate communications service that is timely, accurate and consistent and that enhances and promotes the image of the O.P.P.

Service Delivery

Media Relations, Issues Coordination and Correspondence:

Identify issues, research, analyze, synthesize and present information to deal with current issues and forecast emerging trends. Provide advice and guidance and coordinate provision of information.

Strategic Communications and Creative Services:

Recommend, develop and evaluate messages, products and strategies to support organizational objectives. Publish the O.P.P. Review. Research, write and edit documents, such as speeches, fact sheets, news releases, articles and presentations to communicate information, policy and programs to a wide range of stakeholders, media and the public. Provide expertise in publishing, graphic design, Web site coordination, audio-visual services and promotional tools and tactics.

Corporate Event Management and Community Relations:

Corporate event management, coordination of O.P.P. public relations activities, and steward-ship and promotion of O.P.P. history.
