Huron East
Municipality of Huron EastWelcome to Huron East. The Municipality of Huron East can truly claim to be a community of communities. Within its boundaries are the five amalgamated municipalities and more than 30 small hamlets each with their unique history. Huron East is also as home to several ghost towns which exist in name only; the tides of time having washed away all but their names and the memory of their existence.

Huron East has plenty of affordable housing, a variety of shopping and amenities, top-notch schools, and recreation and leisure activities for all ages. Our hospital and other service providers have created a network for excellent health care. And we have plenty of room to grow in our community - a wonderful blend of rural and urban living.

Logan's Mill, Brussels We are lucky to have many facilities and programs available to the seniors in our community. There are some excellent retirement and residential homes in the area e.g. Huronview Home for the Aged, Huronlea Home for the Aged, Queensway Nursing Home, Seaforth Manor Nursing Home, Highland Apartments at Huronlea and Maplewood Manor.
If you are looking for a good meal and good company then the Town and Country Support Services Dining Program might be just what you are looking for! The Wheels Away transportation service will be happy to take you where you need to go. If you are active and over 55 then you might want to meet up with the Seaforth Happy Seniors.

Van Egmond HouseBe sure to visit Van Egmond House, our premier tourist site. Col. Anthony Van Egmond was one of the first pioneers to the Huron Tract in the 1830's. He is said to have set up the first farm and wheat crop just west of Seaforth on the Huron Road (affectionately now called Highway 8), built the roadway and a number of inns from Guelph to Goderich under the direction of John Galt and Tiger Dunlop, who got most of the glory.

Enjoy the main streets of Seaforth and Brussels. They date from the same period and are prime examples of early Victorian architecture. Seaforth's Main Street achieved historic designation in 1986 in addition to about 20 other homes and buildings in the area.
