South Bruce Peninsula
South Bruce Peninsula ...the spectacular gateway to the Bruce Peninsula. The area starts at Provincial Hwy. No. 21 and heads north along the Lake Huron shoreline through Sauble Beach, Oliphant and Red Bay; and north from Provincial Hwy No. 6 through Hepworth and Wiarton. Wiarton and the Village of Colpoys are nestled in Colpoys Bay protected from the rugged Canadian Georgian Bay waters.

January 1999, the former municipalities of the Township of Albemarle, Township of Amabel, Village of Hepworth and the Town of Wiarton were amalgamated into one local government body - the new Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

The area is beautiful - from its imposing escarpment hiking trails to its miles of sand beaches. Experience the thrill of sailing its pristine waters or fishing both inland waterways and larger lakes. Come and celebrate the seasons with maple syrup treats, strawberry teas, summer street dances, garden shows, fall fairs and winter festivals.

Located in the County of Bruce at the base of the Bruce Peninsula, the area is alive with both residential and economic opportunities. The municipality is influenced significantly by the shallow expanse of Lake Huron on one side and the frigid depths of Georgian Bay on the other. The escarpment and glacial formations leave indelible marks on the landscape.

Approximately 8,000 people live within the Town boundaries on a year round basis. There is a significant increase in population during the summer months when the summer residents arrive - estimates are between 25 to 30,000. For many this area holds fond memories of generations of family and friends.
