The Ontario Government offers a wide range of programs and services for senior citizens. We can help you plan with information and resources for your retirement, finances, leisure activities and health care resources. We can also help you live with more independence.

    Telehealth Ontario is a free, confidential telephone service you can call to get health advice or general health information from a registered nurse.

  • Eat Right Ontario
    This website offers articles on nutrition, healthy weights, and disease prevention, tips on food labeling, and links to valuable resources within Ontario’s health network.

  • Seniors' Care: Home, Community and Residential Care Services for Seniors
    Care programs provide a variety of health-related services that help to support people at home or in facility-based care.

  • Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP)
    A resident of Ontario must have a health card to show that he or she is entitled to health care services paid for by OHIP. Learn more about the OHIP program.

Travelling

  • Senior Drivers in Ontario
    This website provides information for drivers, aged 80 years and over, on what's required to renew their driver's licence.

  • OHIP Coverage Across Canada
    An insured person leaving Ontario to travel or work within Canada can continue to receive Ontario health coverage for up to twelve months or until establishing residency in another Canadian province or territory, whichever is sooner.

  • Travelling Outside Canada - Ontario Health Insurance (OHIP)
    If you have a valid Ontario Health Card you are entitled to certain benefits when outside Canada. But because coverage for out-of-country health care services is limited, you should purchase supplementary insurance. Visit the Ontario Health Insurance website for detailed information.

  • Canadian Snowbird Association
    The CSA is a national and international nonprofit organization created to represent the health care, social and economic interests, needs and concerns of Canadians who travel.

  • Elder Hostels
    Elderhostel provides adventures in lifelong learning for older adults through educational travel programs.

  • Information and Assistance for Canadians Abroad
    This website provides information on some difficult situations that Canadian travellers may encounter while abroad, and includes issue-specific recommendations to assist you in dealing with them.

    The Ontario Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (ONPEA) is a non-profit, charitable organization focusing on the prevention of elder abuse and neglect.
