Ontario Best Practice Manual : Clostridium difficile
This document deals with the prevention and control of the transmission of Clostridium difficile (C.difficile) in acute and non-acute health care settings. This Best Practice does not address province-wide surveillance and reporting of C. difficile. Each facility should develop a plan for the prevention and control of Clostridium difficile associated disease (CDAD). This document reflects the best expert opinion on the prevention and control of CDAD available at this time. Documents consulted are listed in the reference section. The recommendations in this document will be reviewed and updated from time to time. How and When to Use This Document
The best practices for Prevention and Control of Clostridium difficile within Health care Facilities applies to ALL patients with C. difficile in all settings where health care is delivered. These best practices should be integrated with existing infection prevention and control programs and be a part of a comprehensive organization–wide effort to maintain acceptable standards for infection prevention and control.
