Amusement Rides and Recreational Railways

Amusement Rides and Recreational Railways are licensed by The BC Safety Authority, which is responsible for verifying the safe installation and operation of the more than 200 amusement rides in BC. Safety Officers review the technical safety information and inspect new ride installations ? and conduct operational audits on existing ride installations ? to confirm that they are being operated in accordance with the Safety Standards Act, the Safety Standards General Regulation and applicable sections of the Elevating Devices Safety Regulation.
Amusement ride operators are required by regulation to submit operator training plans for our review. The BC Safety Authority is also responsible for overseeing the safety of the province?s 18 recreational railways, ranging from miniature 10-inch gauge trains to historical steam locomotives.

Electrical Safety Act
This Act requires the purchasing of permits for all electrical work as defined in the Regulations. The Act requires contractors to present proof to inspectors that they have a valid licence and certification of the required grade to perform the proposed electrical work.
