Fire Services Act:
The Fire Services Act, Fire Code, and Building Code, established under the Municipal Act, outline the regulations for the construction of public buildings, exits and general fire safety standards for all public places. Special attention is paid to the construction and installation of chimneys to ensure compliance with the safety standards of the Act. The Act overlaps the BC Building Code and is more stringent. Contractors should be familiar with both.
