Fireworks
The following is meant solely to help the reader understand the main features of primary regulations governing this activity, and not meant in any way to provide a legal interpretation.
Fireworks Act:
In this Act, fireworks include cannon crackers, fireballs, fire crackers, Roman Candles, sky rockets, squibs, torpedoes and other explosives designated as a firework by regulation.
A person shall not, except between October 24 and November 1 in any year, sell, or discharge fireworks.
The Fire commissioner may designate fireworks that may not be sold to a minor without the written permission of his/her parent or guardian.
Fireworks may be sold to and discharged by a person or organization at a public display if the public display is held with the written permission of the fire commissioner or any of his/her local assistants having jurisdiction in the fire district where the public display is held.
Regulations stipulated by the Fireworks Act only apply if a municipality establishes a specific bylaw that ensures they apply.

Municipal Act
Municipalities can regulate/prohibit the exploding of firecrackers and other fireworks and/or the sale or disposal of fireworks, subject to the Fireworks Act.
Regulations stipulated by the Fireworks Act only apply if a municipality establishes a specific bylaw that ensures they apply.
